I was accepted as Undeclared in L&S and I emailed UCSB to change my major to the open major, Econ/Accounting. On the UCSB portal it said major changing must be done prior to submitting an SIR. My question is, could I accept my SIR now and have my major changed without a problem? I want to sign up for FSSP soon, so that's why I don't want to wait.

Econ needs a certain gpa in lower division courses to get into the major, until then you are ‘pre-Econ’ anyhow. This isn’t like picking an impacted major such as ChemE where you are in the major from day one. You should always call admissions to confirm if you are concerned, but in this case I wouldn’t hold of sending the SIR for this.
