I was accepted to Cal Poly Pomona to Urban Planning but I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to change it to Architecture before fall. I am a transfer student with a 3.8 gpa and strong letters of recommendations and portfolio.

With those grades you should have applied directly to the architecture program. Unfortunately, changing majors is not supposed to be easier than transferring, but if you keep up those grades, you may make it in next year. FYI If you don’t have any architectural background, they’ll base your admission strictly on grades, regardless of where you got them and will place you in the first year. If you’re coming from an arc program, they’ll base your admission based on a combination of grades and portfolio. I am not sure if they’ll count URP classes for ARC credit. They’re mainly interested in Design background.

I agree with seaprt, you should have applied to Arch directly. Nonetheless, Cal Poly Pomona advises,

“Requests for changes to impacted majors must be received by the end of the initial filing period for the term for which new majors are being accepted (i.e., February 28 for summer; November 30 for fall; June 30 for winter; August 31 for spring).”
