Found out over the weekend that if you request a change of term for fall or summer b, it probably will put you at the bottom of the housing for that term. My son wanted to change from Fall to summer B (what he had requested originall). We found out that if he did that, he may not get housing for summer B, since all the other summer b housing will be put in by March 2. He would not know if he got the change until May, when all the other summer b dorm housing would have maybe been given out. He has since rescinded his request for a change. Just a heads up.....

Is there anything to confirm this, because this is really important to a couple of my friends who are stuck in summer.

As a follow up to my son’s emailed request to change from fall 2010 to summer B 2010, here is a part of the email he was sent from admissions, confirming his request for a change of term:

"Hopefully we will be able to give you a decision on your
request by mid to late May, but we can’t make any promises at this point.
I wish we could give you a decision sooner, but it is not possible until we
determine available space. Until that time, you will need to plan to attend and
enroll in the term you were offered admission.

Please understand that a change in term of enrollment may affect your housing
options.
If you decide you no longer wish to have a term change, please let us know."

This sounded like a heads up…that housing choices for summer might be bad in May.

When I talked to admissions this week, they confirmed that he will retain his housing number for his original admission term, Fall, but he would basically be on the bottom of the list for summer b housing, after everyone else in summer b got in their housing info by March 2. He would have to wait til May and by then, most likely all campus housing would be full (except maybe Thomas, unairconditioned). That was a deal breaker for my son.
