Son is deferred and waiting for RD notice, applied for Engineering. Today he logged into ecampus and noticed that his application status nows shows program as Arts & Sciences.

Maybe a glitch? Or maybe he will be admitted to A&S instead of Engineering?

Hmmm - did it definitely say Engineering before? What is under the column called ‘plan’? We applied to A&S so I won’t be of any help, but under Plan it lists the major she applied to. Still just says ‘this application is complete’.

Yes, used to say engineering. Now shows undecided arts and science. And then at the bottom this application is complete. I guess we will find out soon enough.

Same thing happened to me. Good news is I am guessing it probably means an acceptance, but bad news is that it is not an acceptance to our program of choice!

My son was deferred from EA to RD, but he was asked in that notice if he would consider switching from Business to Arts & Sciences. He agreed to that. Perhaps you/your student agreed to a potential switch to A/S (as I know my son did)?

My son also applied EA to Engineering and was deferred, and now also upon login his profile has him listed as Arts and Sciences. Here is what I think: I think it was determined that he will not be accepted into the Engineering school and is now being considered for Arts and Sciences. Yes, we agreed to consider this switch as an option back in December when he was deferred, however, I can frankly say we never thought it would come to this.

He was accepted EA to Villanova school of Engineering btw.

I think you are right bocofar. Son has been accepted engineering at 3 other schools…he really likes SC though…we will see what happens.

To those who applied to engineering? What branch of engineering did you apply to? I applied to civl.

My son applied to mechanical. We heard today (decision posted yesterday) that he was accepted to Arts and Sciences. Wow, big difference. He had ACT 34 and 3.6(UW) and 4.1(W) with great letters, very good volunteer work (with award), sports, and work experience. Still waiting on 5 other schools.

alohi808, I think Santa Clara is such a small school with an increasingly huge number of applicants for all spots in each school. Not surprising that our kids would be accepted at other great schools for engineering where there is more opportunity.

bocofar…son got admitted to Arts and Sciences as well. He also got into UWashington today engineering. Too bad, he really liked SCU.
