Change Please!!

Hey guys,
I am a current high school Junior. I have a 4.6 and my ec's are good. I have taken 11 AP's and only 3 Academic. All the others are Honors. I really slacked off my freshmen and sophomore year and got 4 C's and 5 A's, but i had taken 5 AP's my sophomore year. My junior year I got one B and the rest were A's. My ACT is a 32 and my SAT is a 2100.

EC-VP Speech and Debate Sophomore and President Junior and Senior Year. I was on the tennis team all four years and Key club all four years. I was VP of DECA junior year and President Senior year. I participated in Deca my sophomore year.

Also, I have an older brother who is currently studying at UNC. Will that play a role in my application? I was wondering if my freshmen and sophomore year grades would reflect badly even though i fixed my grades my junior year.

I am planning to apply to

Vandy
University of Michigan Ann Arbor
Emory
Georgetown
UNC(Instate)
NYU
Berkely
U Miami

Please be honest...trust me I can take it :)
Thanks!!

What is your uw GPA? Particularly from Sophomore to current.

UMI: Match/High match
Emory: High match
Georgetown: Reach
Vanderbilt: Reach
UNC: Match
NYU: Match/High match
Berkeley: High match (can you pay full-freight?)
U Miami: Low match/Match

UMich would really depends on your GPA. Your scores are below 75% of their admission stat. You will be a high match if your GPA is around 3.75. It will be a match if above 3.85.

I may apply to ED to Vandy, will that help any?..and my UW is around 3.6 :(. It’s cause of all my C’s freshmen and sophmore year.

No way is UMich a match. People need to figure out that UMich is no longer a match/safety school. Their OOS acceptance rate was ~10%, close to, and even less than, the acceptance rates of Ivies and other “highly ranked” schools. I would say UMich is a reach for you. Your ECs are not competitive with other top applicants. Your scores are average.

As for the rest:

Vandy: Reach
Emory: Reach
Georgetown: Reach
UNC(Instate): Match
NYU: Low Reach
Berkely: Reach
U Miami: High Match

what would you say, statlanta, some OOS schools which are in my match?

I don’t think UMich is that low in acceptance rate. 42.6% admitted students are oos. The over all aceptance rate is 37%.

Sent from my NookColor using CC

UCLA or other UC schools would be good matches. UAlabama gives full scholarships to 32+ ACT and 3.5+ GPA.

Try to recalculate your GPA without freshman grades to see if you can reach 3.75. Otherwise, you will still be a high match for UMich. Hopefully your school has tough grades that may help. Do you know your class rank?

Yes it does, i am 62/560…so 15%

Not bad. That would help somewhat if your GPA is lower. UMich’s admission stat went up a little bit this year, but it should still be a high match for you.

UMI: Reach (OOS is as hard to get into as Vanderbilt)

I have read the OOS acceptance rate for UMich to be around 20-25%. There are many more oos than in-state applicants. The overall acceptance rate for 2013 is slightly above 33% and around 40% enrolled students are from oos.

Also can you guys chance me for

Rice/cornell -ED
Cmu -ed2
nyu stern

Thanks in advance!!
