If you sent something, a letter with an update of awards and stuff, after or near when they decided on your application, would they alter their decision?

Probably not, but I'm hoping and dreaming!

If you sent something, a letter with an update of awards and stuff, after or near when they decided on your application, would they alter their decision?

Probably not, but I'm hoping and dreaming!

If they hadn't made the decision yet...they'd probably consider it.

Depending on how impressive the info in the update is, they may consider it. Keep in mind, however, that except for almost all ofl the very top colleges, most colleges overwhelmingly base admissions decisions on applicants' stats and (in the case of public universities) state of residence.

I'm mostly focusing on Harvard. I went to 2-3 more things for state on top of what I already had. I had not state accolades for choir, and now I have 3.

You'll never know. Just sit tight for 14 days.

Northstarmom that's not quite true, especially in the case of top LAC's. Also, at many top colleges excellent stats only get you into the conversation. Other factors tip you in. 4.0 students w/ excellent test scores are turned away all the time from top schools because recs, essays, EC's etc. don't stack up with the competition.

"Northstarmom that's not quite true, especially in the case of top LAC's. "

That was my point. Unless the OP applied to the very top private colleges, the stats, not ECs or honors will be what gets the OP admitted or rejected. CalTech probably is the only very top college that is overwhelmingly stats-driven.

When it comes to the very top colleges for which ECs are a major factor, the OP will need to have accomplished something major recently with ECs or honors because even students with national awards like National Merit Scholar are a dime a dozen at such universities and LACs.

Still, instead of asking on a message board about whether to send the update, it would be better to send the update cause ya never know....
