Yes, it is a head scratching policy that they make you jump through hoops to change your user name. So if someone is savvy enough to pick an anonymous one, that’s ok. But if someone doesn’t realize all posts are permanent, and your name is attached to it, they make you go through a bunch of back and forth.

Not sure when you created your account but if it was in the last 30 days, you should be able to change your own user name.

Also it seems like the default these days is that the system assigns the name from the account that was creating it? I see a lot more first name/last name combos than the past and I suspect it is because of a default setting for account creation.

If this is true, I think it would be really helpful and important to change this default setting.

I’m sure @CC_Mike will respond….but for those who have created accounts within 30 days and would like to change screen name…

I too would like to see this default changed. Really…this is college “confidential” and having accounts set up with real names goes way against the confidential part of that!

How Do I Change My Username?

When you first create an account on College Confidential, you have to create a username. By default, if you use your Google or Facebook account, your username will include your first and last name. Yes—I think that is a lousy default and I think the site administrators should be able to avoid such a default or not let people proceed until they acknowledge via a mouse click that the site is using their actual name.
