I feel a bit stressed because I really enjoy science. I wanted to major in Biology. The first required class I took (I am a freshman, just finished my first semester) I found to be really difficult. The primary focus was on molecular biology. I am not sure if it was the fact that I was not interested or maybe I didn’t match well with the professors teaching methods…but I really wanted to get out. I changed my major to another that is in tune with another dream career of mine. But now I am worried because I have always liked biology and I am not sure if it was right of me to change so quickly. Thoughts?
Take another class in biology this semester with a new professor as well as one class in thhe new major.
Maybe Bio takes more effort than you thought…you either have to ramp up your studying or find another major. Also talk to your adviser to see whaat they think.
You could always change it back, if you change your mind. My advice is to take a biology class and a class in your new major. Plus its normal to be interested in more than one thing. I could have easily studied history or sociology, I thought those fields/classes looked very interested. Too bad I couldn’t take more classes and still graduate on time. My boyfriend thought food science was really interesting as well as geology. Point is, you can have more than one major or interest!
Hi I’m new to college confidential and wasn’t sure what thread to post this in.
I just got accepted to Barrett ASU under a biological sciences major in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. I want to be Pre-med but want to choose a major that I’ll enjoy and will provide me an alternate, high-paying, enjoyable career if med school doesn’t work out. I really like economics and was wondering:
- Is Economics a good major for pre-med?
- Should I choose the economics major in the W. P. Carey school of business bc of alumni and job networks or pursue the economics major in the liberal arts and sciences college?
- Should I double major or minor in biology in addition to Econ to be better prepared for the MCAT/ Med school?
Do you like Economics? Any major is a good major for premed.
You don’t have to double major or minor in biology…just take the pre-med prerequisite courses.
thank you for the advice Im in my second semester and absolutely loving my bio class
