So after much thought I've decided not to apply for financial aid at any of the schools to which I've applied. Many of these schools are not need-blind, so I feel it would be better not to apply for aid and share the wealth since my family can afford it. But I indicated on the common app that I did intend to apply for aid. Should I call the schools up and let them know? Or will they know just by the fact that I haven't sent anything in?

I would apply anyway. If you're income is too high you won't receive any need based grants. You may want to apply for a scholarship or something later and might be denied if you did not file before your first year. You don't have to accept anything you are offered so you still can "share the wealth". It's great if your family can afford all of your costs but these are scary times. What if something catastrophic were to happen to your family or their situation? I say cover your bases and fill out the application.

Yes, if your family is truly comfortable with the decision call the schools right away. This year of all years the need aware schools need full paying students and it will make it much more likely that you'll get in.
