Changes for top engineering school?

All reaches, and don't waste ur time over Princeton....even after years of struggle and a huge endowment they still dont have a name for engineering...

besides, the other schools: you have a good shot at all of them

You have not even considered MIT or CalTech? ? How about Penn or Columbia SEAS?

I agree that Stanford or any Ivies are reaches for me. I put Stanford on the list because that really is my dream school. I don't want to get started on how good it is though... Princeton I put on the list because... it's an Ivy. I am considering adding Columbia right now and will probably visit this summer.

I'm not sure if I am right in this but I decided I don't want to go to a tech school. Reason is that I don't want everyone around me to be just like me. I want to be around different majors and have diversity. I'm sure if MIT wanted me and I got rejected at Stanford I would probably go though since quality of education is my number one deciding factor.

Of the colleges on my list that I could possibly get accepted into, which is the best for engineering? I am undecided on a specialty; probably end up with mechanical. Thanks!

Insecure, I am not sure who told you that Princeton doesn't have a big name in for Engineering. I only hear great things about Princeton's engineering program and its top 10 undergraduate Engineering ranking only proves how highly regarded it is.

Jhchen, obviously, Stanford is the best Engineering school you are looking into. I'd say Michigan is the second best in your group, closely followed by CMU and Princeton and Northwestern would be last. However, all 5 of those universities have excellent Engineering schools.

In Engineering, Columbia would be weaker than the five schools above. If you want to add an Ivy, add Cornell, which is as good as Michigan and Carnegie Mellon.

Agreed. Columbia is more known for other things (such as Economics).
