changes in grades sr yr?

i'm applying to harvard, and my grades aren't amazing ... 3.8 unweighted...and i have a 3.7 uw in my sr year...would that kind of be too low for harvard? i go to a semi competitive public school.

Simple answer with the information you gave, yes. More info?

^^you can’t say that, we have no idea what classes you take, how many AP’s, and most importantly your rank

hmm. I have all As and A-s in core classes (GPA counts only core classes). my weighted is a 4.6…i will take by the end of sr year 13 AP classes…my rank is like top 1% but they don’t do ranks at my school…and my school is pretty competitive as in probably 20%-40% of our class goes to top 20 schools (not counting top LACs).

i have perfect test scores - 5 SATIIs & ACT

I have good leadership in ECs

I have done research over the summer and i’m sending in my abstract or paper.

I have good national and state science and math awards.

I play/captain a varsity sport.

Basically I do on average like 18 hours of ECs a week if you count weekend.

But my grades suck because I am lazy and don’t do any work =(

basically this has turned into a chance me thread

aw this is slightly unfair - if my school didn’t do A-s then i would i ahve a 4.0 :P

Given your perfect SAT IIs and ACT score, plus the fact that you’re in the top 1% while 20-40% go to top 20 schools, you should have a decent shot at Harvard.

lol thanks…but the top 1% is moot because our school doesn’t rank at all so harvard wouldn’t know that. =[

oh and i think i overestimated…it’s more around 15-30% that go to top 20 schools. and it’s not always the top 15 or 30%

and harvard takes about 2 people from our school a year.

I would say you definitely have a shot. Also, 2 people a year? You must have a great school. No one from my high school has gotten into harvard in like ten years…
