Changes in NMF scholarship policy at USC for class of 2022?

I’ve read on CC that the Presidential half-tuition scholarship is essentially “automatic” at USC even if it isn’t explicitly stated on their website. If you’re admitted and NMF, you get at least the 1/2 tuition scholarship. Some posters on CC say that the NMF scholarship is going to be “competitive” starting this year. Instead of admission==scholarship, you could be admitted as NMF without getting the scholarship. Does anyone have any information on this?

Note that I’m not referring to admission being competitive but rather after you’re admitted, there’s an additional competition for the Presidential scholarship for NMF kids.

Thanks

Usually they confirm the 1/2 tuition amount in the award letter.
Our son received that. But the rest of the expenses are not guaranteed, so you could end up paying for the other half of tuition AND your housing and living expenses. These are NOT cheap.

D18 went to a USC info session at her HS today. The rep told her that the half-tuition scholarship is guaranteed for all NMFs who are admitted.

^ I can confirm this. We went to a large info session in San Diego yesterday, and both an admissions officer and Viterbi staff confirmed that the President’s scholarship is guaranteed for NMFs that are admitted with USC as their first choice.
