I applied for admission at Western Carolina for fall 2012 and was denied, probably because of my 2.4 weighted GPA (horrible I know, I clearly didn't take high school seriously). They said my SAT scores were pretty much average and didn't really recommend me taking it again if I want to apply for spring 2013, which I plan on doing. I emailed the head director of undergraduate transfer admissions and she said if I wanted to apply for the spring semester, she recommends doing so as soon as I start classes at the community college. If I work hard this semester and get at least a 3.0 what do you think my chances of getting in for the spring semester are?

Applying spring semester boosts your chances a little. It will also be beneficial to boost your GPA. I’m surprised you didn’t get in the first time, I never thought of Western Carolina as being very stringent.
