please?? lol i need to know whether to apply ED or not

To be honest, your great academics will not fully compensat for ECs that are not very strong (except for the tour guiding, they dont seem like large involvements). Also, I'd definately retake the SATs. ED will help you.

You need a "hook".

i would def. apply early if i were you where are u from???

hm...frankly, not a very characteristic resume...no leadership positions, ok scores, mundane ecs. if you want to stand out, give everything you have to your essay and make yourself stand out as a person, not as a john doe no. 98769
edit: also, early decision does help. if you're from the carolinas, you should have a little bit of advantage. finally, it's never too late to improve your stats. make a club or something to show more active involvement in your community.

Bah, people on here are so depressing.

Apply ED only if the school suits you, not if you suit the school. It's a pretty serious decision to make.

You have a very strong resume. Remember, everyone's SAT scores dropped this year, so yours are probably in line with the mean distribution of applicants applying to the top tier schools.

Your ACT science score is impressive.

If you really want to go here, let your admissions rep know, e-mail, write...whatever. All you need now is a little confidence and determination.

By the way...your "hook" does not have to be something extravagant and showboat-y like publishing a book or something...the best "hooks" are simple ones, like quarky things you like to do in your free time. (Listen to the radio, classical music, watch good movies, read the newspaper, write computer programs...w/e)

In fact, publishing a book may be a bad hook for a while, at least if you are applying to Harvard...

^^and if you don't actually write it but copy someone else's
