Has Tisch changed the timing of studio assignments? I’ve noticed several CC posts with early decision results that already indicate studio assignment. I thought in the past that happenend later in the process - perhaps sometime after the RD round. I could be wrong but that’s how I thought it worked last year. Can’t seem to find that answer on the website.

You can say in ED or in RD that you will ONLY accept a certain studio. It doesn’t increase your odds to get that studio placement, but if you are willing to accept a studio other than your first choice, then at least you will still be considered for admission even if you can’t get into the first choice studio, whereas if you will only accept ONE studio and they can’t put you in it, you will no longer be considered for admission at all.

My daughter applied RD and gave a first choice (and second and third choice) and said she was willing to accept any studio. She got her first choice. But if she hadn’t gotten her first choice, she may have been accepted to Tisch into another studio and then could decide if she wanted to attend among her other acceptances (as some other friends did). BUT had she applied ED, she would have said she ONLY wanted the MT studio because if accepted, she would be committed to enroll and would not be able to weigh other college options. Anyway, you can specify “will only accept X studio” or “X studio is my first choice but I’ll accept any studio you place me in.” Those who were admitted ED and have recorded here that they are placed in NSB have obviously stated NSB only. I have a student who was admitted ED to Tisch this week and she knows she’ll be in the MT studio because that is what she said she’d accept only.

I had forgotten about the single choice studio option for MT probably because it is not “the plan” here. Makes sense. Thank you both for clearing that up.
