Effective beginning with Fall 2010 transfer applicants
Due to the continuous increase in transfer applications to UCLA and because the majority of applicants apply to a select number of majors, the following change in TAP admissions has been approved by the College of Letters and Science:
TAP certified students will be reviewed for alternate majors only if they meet both of the following provisions.
A. The alternate major may NOT be one of the following 10 selective majors:
§ Pre-Business Economics
§ Communication Studies
§ Pre-Economics
§ Pre-Economics - International Area Studies
§ English
§ Pre-Global Studies
§ Pre-History
§ Pre-Political Science
§ Pre-Psychology
§ Pre-Sociology
B. The alternate major must have been listed on the original UC Application. Requests to add or change the alternate major after submission of the application will not be considered. This applies to all alternate majors at UCLA.

**** I’m going to assume this is for everyone. I have no alternate major as I didn’t complete any pre-reqs for any other major. I was going to apply as Business-econ and econ as my alternate major.

I don’t think you have that option any longer. If you choose bus-econ, then your alt major must be non-impacted like Math, Anthropology, Philosophy, etc.

this is so stupid. if they’re going to change these requirements they should do it for the next school year for transfers for fall 2011. many people have now just wasted their time doing the prereqs for 2 majors…and i have no idea why polsci is on that list. it has a 40% transfer rate so it’s obviously not that selective.

yeah, I’m in the same boat. I’ll be applying for as a pre-bizecon major… but the thing is, that is the major I want. If I don’t get into that major, I’ll be attending a different school entirely.

I’ve already done prereqs for both Comm and English (my backup) and will be applying this year. I’m sure others are in the same boat. Now mychances of getting into UCLA are even more slim, yet UC Execs are getting pay raises? Ridonkulous.

This ****ing sucks. I really, really, really wanted to double major (or at least minor) in two of those majors and now it’s going to be harder to do so. I completed all my pre-reqs too… and now I have to find one of those alternative majors that don’t have any listed on ASSIST. Lame.
