Changing a major before decisions?

I applied as Marketing but I’m not completely sure if I want to do Marketing or Finance so should I email them to change my business-undecided?
They all fall under the same LEP so this shouldn’t affect my possible decision right?
On their decisions FAQ page, it says that changing LEP majors is not recommended. Does that mean it is harder to change even if they are in the same LEP?

From what I know, decisions are made independent of your major and then once you’re admitted it is decided whether or not you are admitted to your LEP. I know nothing about major changes though, but there are others on here that know more and UMD’s admissions office should be able to answer you as well (I’d recommend that you call them).

I was refering to my decision for Smith, But Thank you!

I personally don’t believe that it is necessary to email them at this stage of the game since, technically, if you had checked undecided business, you don’t have to declare which specific major within Smith until you reach 60 credits.

The critical part of the decision process is checking off the specific LEP of business, so that your application will be reviewed by Smith admissions staff. The criteria for Smith admissions is separate than admissions to the university, so it is possible to be admitted to the university, but not admitted to Smith. Therefore, the biggest issue is whether or not you are a direct admit to Smith as a freshman, or whether you are assigned to Letters and Sciences and then have to reapply as an internal transfer, not which major within Smith you applied to.

I am not sure what FAQ page you are referring to (as there are many) but admission to one LEP does not mean that you would automatically be admitted to a different LEP (for example, Smith (business) has a different review process than Clark (engineering) because they look for entirely different things for direct admission as a freshman.
