Changing at School

I don't live on campus, so I don't have a dorm or anything to change in, which poses a problem for me. I have over an hour between classes this summer and I intend to run along the river valley during my breaks, but I can't go to class in my workout gear every day which means I have to change.

Would it be considered strange to change in the bathroom (I'd keep my shoes on of course.) The reason I ask is because I need somewhere to change and the fitness facility is on the opposite side of campus from the river valley and the trek over there would just be a waste of time when I could be running instead. So after my first class is changing in the restroom an acceptable option and then throwing my day clothes into my bag okay (I run with my backpack on)? I really can't wear my work-out gear to class, it would just be inappropriate.

Sorry, it's a dumb question but I really would love to know what you guys think

Why not? When I work out in the day, I go to class in my workout clothes (if it’s cold out, I’ll throw jeans on).

No.

Change in the bathroom.

My shorts are pretty short, spandex and a 2.5’ inseam accompanied by a tight top, I don’t want to distract anyone, people go to school to learn of course. Plus after long run it might be less than savory to wear that to class as well. I suppose I’m just being a worry wart

Trust me, you wouldn’t be the only one going to class in workout gear. And some will wear less than that ^.

If you think your shorts are too short to be appropriate, you could always wear another pair of pants over them.

It’s not common, but you wouldn’t be ostracized for it either.

The handicap stalls have a lot of space.

Why is it weird to change in the bathroom. At my job we all hate our uniform so we change when we get to work and change right after our shift ends, always in the bathroom. I used to commute on bike a lot to a job that I used to have that required professional dress. I’d bike in in my workout clothes and change when I got in, in a less used bathroom from a back entrance. It worked great. Just change in the bathroom. You’ll be fine.

This is a question?

Have you never changed in a bathroom before?

I’ve never even thought about it being potentially strange. Just use the handicap stall if it’s open and change there.

I’ve used my high school’s bathroom many times to change, (usually because I had to dress up for a class presentation didn’t want to wear a suit all day) I never got the feeling people thought it was strange then, and it certainly wouldn’t be any more so in college. Someone who observes what you’re doing behind a closed stall door has a problem.

It’s not really strange to change in the bathroom. Some people might think it’s weird, but shouldn’t really matter. In highschool, my friends and I would change in the middle of the hallways before track practice while school was ending. No comments received. Not even from the vice prinicipal.

I change in the bathroom all the time before and after work and when I have to wear certain outfits to school (class presentation, a costume type thing, etc). If you really have a problem with changing just throw on a pair of nike warm ups over your shorts. No one will judge-or probably care about- what you wear in college.
