Changing class after Drop and Add

Hi

So, I switched into this particular section of Math 103 towards
the end of drop and add. It's late afternoon TTh section (1.15 hrs),
I don't like the class (none of my friends are in it and professor
is very boring). So, every time, I fall asleep in the class and it
just is a waste of time. Also it just ruins my schedule.

Now I realize that it's not worth going to class, b/c I don't learn
anything. (though I need to, in order to hand in and receive hw)

So at this time, is it possible for me to switch into another
section of Math 103?

BEFORE the end of drop/add, Lewis Blake, the freshman adviser for math said that changing process AFTER the drop/add is very complicated, etc. and he was bit annoyed by the mention of it. So he's going to say no, and the class I'm trying to switch into is full as well. But if I talk to perhaps one of Trinity Advising Deans, and mention the fact that I know that I'm going to end up not going to this class do you think they'll let me change??

Please help-- (this definitely is not the first semester or college life I hoped for)

I know I'm going to end up not going to my class. Do you think

I think you're out of luck- the response you'll get is "why didn't you take care of this before add/drop was over?"

The process, from what I understand, consists of actually withdrawing from the one course (so you will get a W/D Pass or Fail on your transcript), and then getting approval from the Academic Deans to add the class...which when you're just switching sections is probably just going to succeed in making them angry.

IMHO, you're options are to talk to the other professor and see if you can just sit in on his class until test time...not got to class and just see how it goes (I'd advise against this with 103)...or suck it up and deal with it. College is about having some classes you're passionate about and others that you completely despise...that's life.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but...

Welcome to college, a place where no one will bend over backwards so you can be comfortable.

I agree.

Sorry that it's bad, but you also didn't take care of it when it was appropriate -- even after hearing what the adviser had to say.

Sorry that you have a boring class with a bad prof that you sleep through and never want to go to. SO many of us have been there, and while it's sucky, you gotta do what you gotta do. Sorry that your first semester of college has a "ruined" schedule or isn't amazing -- its bound to happen at least once in college, and there's no better time to have a crappy schedule than first semester. i know that seems a little "tough love" -- moreso than what you obviously wanted to hear -- but hating a class is a fact of life.

Yeh, you won't be able to switch this. Also, if it is any consolation at least be glad that you aren't an Engineer. I have never once had a schedule that even approached "ideal". In fact I post my schedule on my door because I am an RA and most semesters people make a point of stopping in to tell my how hellish my schedule is. (and this is without knowing that I was also usually forced into taking a Math section with a teacher I didn't feel was preparing me particularly well due to restrictions in the time frame for my class)

I know the "it could be worse" argument isn't what anyone likes to hear, but it could be worse!

(I'd just make sure that you get copies of the other professor's tests from your friends in the other classes so that you aren't hung out to dry come finals time)

I looked it up and you get a grade of Withdrawl for the course, which stays on your transcript unfortunately, according to the T-Reqs site
