Changing College, is it possible, how hard?

i have just been admitted by the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences and i put down material science as my intended major in the application. however, i changed my mind now, and really want to go to McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science and probably going into Material Science and ENGINEERING instead.
just wondering if it is possible, and how should i do this?? (i know i have to write email to the director of undergraduate admission, but how should i present my case???)

thx for reading this, pls gimme some suggestion,

You should actually email the school you want to transfer in and ask what the process is, not the director of undergrad. I recommend doing this early so by the time you get to school you are already in McCormick instead of having to transfer during New Student Week. I did this with SESP (from WCAS) over the summer before school started, hopefully MEAS can do that too.

Someone from this page would probably be helpful:

hummm, thx alot, ur stuff is quiet helping
but just one question, the admission package that i got from the university says that i should write to the the director of undergrad, so i dunno, maybe i should write to both of them i guess, lol
thx any more suggestion?

I don't know, if it said specifically "if you want to transfer, write to him" then do that, but at least once you're in school, transferring isn't at all a complicated process, just a matter of paperwork. And I was able to transfer schools without emailing him and without doing anything else except expressing interest.

thomas- I was accepted to McCormick but now I want to do the MMSS program in Weinberg. Guess we both get what we want :)

MMSS might be different because it's a specific program, I think. It's not just a major you can declare. I don't know the specifics of that though...

I know...I have to write a letter, request to be placed in there b/c I didn't apply in the first place. There is a specific MMSS application form too.

i did it last year, u dont really have to transfer schools anytime soon, i spent 2/3 of the year in mccormick but i took all the mmss classes

actually being in one college or another is really sketchy and doesnt mean much...i did get a hold on my registration when i didnt talk to my mcck advisor for registration this past quarter, but then when i went to see them, they just told me to transfer out

ok thx for all the information, but i am still wondering if there will be any difference for my freshman year between staying in the science college and engineering school?

not hard at all.....

The school is mostly important for pre-registration, as majors/school residents get first pick at classes for majors. So it's definitely worth it to transfer.

If you want to be an engineer, you have to take the EA and EDC series. Most engineers complete these as freshmen, so it may be a pain for you do them after your 1st year.

whats mmss
