Changing colleges as an incoming freshman?

Hello! I'm new to the site, so sorry if I don't know the site's etiquette.

I recently got accepted to UCSD, but I want to switch out of the college I got put in. I'm a Human Bio major, but I was put into ERC. I read around the threads already for something that may help but I'm kind of unclear how this works. Could someone clarify how changing colleges work?

I've also heard you can trade with someone who is willing to trade? If that's true, would anyone be willing to trade ERC with Marshall, Muir or 6th? Thanks!

Also, the procedures for petitioning to switch should be explained in the FAQ pdf (it’s the admissions FAQ link, I think) that you can find on MyApplication.

Thanks for the quick reply alwaysawriter! I’m going to file a switch anyways to see if I can switch. It’s worth a shot and there is nothing to loose.

If anyone out there is willing to switch though, let me know!

If I’m not mistaken you can only switch colleges after you finish their writing courses and if you can show that switching will help you graduate quicker. That being said you probably won’t be able to switch until after 5 or so quarters, and after that you probably won’t want to switch anymore anyway.
