I have recently changed my mind about what school I want to apply ED to. I am not going to go into depth about why I did this. I was 100% on this school and seriously thought I wanted to apply ED. However, I found out about another school I think I will be happier at. I have NOT submitted my application. I have only had my counselor and parent sign the early agreement form and submit it. I am wondering if when we pressed submit, did it go to the school or to commonapp. I changed my status to applying RD to this school. I am just nervous that the agreement is already submitted to the school, and if it is, I am wondering about how I can fix this. I would really appreciate any information. Again, I do not think I am breaking an agreement because I have not applied (It is only August). But I am not sure.
Sorry if this comes off rude I just want to be sure the persons who answer understand my situation. and please, don’t tell me anything about my mistake. I know and I feel incredibly worried. Thank you so much!!!
I have never heard of this situation happening, but I think the best thing to do is to directly contact the school you sent the ED agreement to, and ask to withdraw. The one thing I would urge you to think about, is that changing your ED school after you have submitted the binding agreement may turn that school off to you in the regular round (more experienced CC’ers might be able to tell you how likely this is, I’m just speculating that it could happen)
If you just “heard about” this second school and have not visited, then ED is a terrible idea. Don’t ED to a school you haven’t visited, and don’t panic and feel that you must ED someplace.
No need to withdraw. If the OP still wants to apply to that school, s/he simply communicates to the school to change the application to RD (which according to the original post, has already happened). Switch application status happens all the time.
As I stated above, changing apps from ED to RD is a very common occurrence. The college will not be “turned off.”
