Changing fields after graduation? Is it worth it?

Right now I have a BA in Family and Consumer Science, but I want to change fields and go for computer related careers in Information Technology because I'm more comfortable with technology. It's also because I haven't been able to find a job with my degree so far.

So I went to see a counselor at a community college hoping for some advice to see it's worth getting an associate in IT or a certificate, but he said I should go for a Masters degree in IT or Business instead since an associate degree or certificate wouldn't help me land a job. My cumulative GPA was only 2.5 so I'm not confident about getting in, and given my status I feel limited to good opportunities. What are some good options I can go for? I would like to listen to everyone's input on this.

Thank you!

I would think that with a 2.5 GPA, you wouldn’t get into grad school, nor pass the GRE. You may want to begin to look at the hospitality industry and any CC coursework in that area.
