Changing from Biology Major to Zoology Major after Transfer

Hi guys,

So I am going to be attending my local community college majoring in Biology and will be planning to transfer to Miami University (Oxford, OH) as a Zoology major in my junior year. Is this possible? My initial plan was to just attend my local community college for pre-requisites before transfer but they do not have Zoology as one of their majors. At Miami University, Biology and Zoology are both in the same department so I would assume this would make the process possible? Any answers would REALLY help as I am very nervous about it being impossible.

Read the course descriptions. Zoology is a specialization within the larger field of biology. Chances are that the first two years of the Zoology major look pretty much like the two years of your AS in Biology. There shouldn’t be any difficulty at all in picking up anything you missed once you get to Miami U.
