I was planning to apply Early Decision to a certain college - my parents had signed the ED agreement and I had indicated that I was applying ED. However, my application still needs a huge amount of polishing, so I may not apply ED as I had anticipated. My question is: would this college look down on me for indicating that I was applying ED and changing to RD this late? Do they even track this kind of thing?

I don’t know, but my son did the exact same thing, though he actually switched ED so may not be able to apply RD to the first school.

I do not think they track it (let the colleges know) because he has gotten multiple requests to apply ED to the first school, after he already filled out the ED forms.

Felt funny filling out the new ED forms though, “no really this time!” like a kid who verbally commits to a college then changes to another. Which happens all the time.

I’m just torn because I know I can make my application so much better, but I was really planning on applying ED so it’s hard to know what to do.

It won’t make any significant difference in how they view your application (other than it is obviously compared to the other RD apps instead of the ED pool).

That’s probably true. I just can’t help thinking about that ED acceptance rate compared to the RD pool.
