Changing from MechE to EECS (?)

Hi guys! I'm an incoming freshman and my major is Mechanical Engineering. However, I am strongly considering switching to EECS (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) because I feel like it'd fit me more. I've read around and the CoE website says that I won't be able to change my major until I finish my first semester at Berkeley.
However, has anyone every done anything similar (switching majors)? Was it difficult? Did the CoE make you fill out a lot of paperwork/ explainations?
What do you guys think I should do about classes? MechE requires that I take E10, while EECS does not (but rather CS61A in its place), so I'm not sure which class to take this fall? I won't be sure about switching majors until after finishing the fall semester and getting a feel for MechE!

Any thoughts and advice much appreciated! Thanks!

Taking CS61A will definitely give you a clear indication if you want to switch to EECS or remain at ME. Otherwise, take a math class and a physics class and a humanities class which counts towards either EECS or ME. Don’t worry about E10.

Changing major within the College of Engineering is described here:
[Change of Major — UC Berkeley College of Engineering](http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/current-undergraduates/majors-minors/change-of-major.html/)

Are you more interested in EE or CS? If you are mainly interested in CS, note that L&S CS is currently not capped and should be easy to declare upon successful completion of the prerequisites.
