I’m a freshman at OSU and I live in Stradley. I HATE IT. My roommate is fine, but the people on my floor are terrible. I get woken up thursday through sunday night because people always go out partying and are extremely loud when they come back. I’m not much of a partier and I’m studying very hard to try to get into nursing school here, and I’m treated differently because I don’t go out and drink. I feel like my academic and social experience is being impaired by where I live.
Anyway, I would like to know how to switch dorms at OSU and the difficulty of doing so. I’d rather be on North Campus because it’s quieter and more academically oriented (I know people party everywhere, but it’s just way too much in my dorm). I know that nothing would happen until winter quarter, but I just want some information.

Last year, dd’s friend transferred dorms but requested even before school started. She waited about a month. I would think now that folks are settled and roomie conflicts subsided, etc it might not take that long. Stradley has a party reputation year after year, not sure why, but dd told me they have some much higher dropout rate than other dorms. dd lived in Siebert last year and Bradley this year…they are arts and science honors dorms and my dd’s floor last year was very sedate…she’s not a big partier and found it quiet even for her. Very easy to study in room on floor, even with doors open. I don’t think you have to be honors to live there…you can have a roommate who is if you are not. Not sure if you could transfer in but an option if you don’t really want North campus.

directions on housing.osu.edu state “To change rooms at this time, a resident should contact their hall director.”
