Is it advisable to ask the head of an alumni association to change your scheduled interviewer if you don't feel you will have a good connection with them? One of my friends had them and wasn't a fan of the experience. Also, my interests are not what I have found my interviewer's to be.

No. That’s the luck of the draw.

“That’s my mom’s boss” is a valid reason to ask for a change. “My friend didn’t like him” is not.

Is it reasonable to ask for a new interviewer in a different application cycle? E.g. if someone applies in his junior year to college, gets rejected, and reapplies in his senior year and would like a new interviewer.

Sirkorsky can back me up on this, but interviews are supposed to be the absolute least important part of the college applications process. Unless you showed up to your interview and were totally incoherent, or were psychopathic, your interview was NOT the reason you were rejected. FWIW: having a second interview with the same person a year later, might be a good way to demonstrate your growth and maturity.

As always, gibby is quite right.

And that probably bugs the daylights out of gibby’s kids!
