I am an incoming Freshman majoring in chemical biology. I signed up for lecture and lab sections for chem 4A during phase 1, not really knowing what the rest of my schedule would look like. It now looks like I will be joining the Cal Band, and the lab section I signed up for overlaps with band rehearsal. I want to switch to another lab section which, according to Ninja, has room, but I feel like telebears and ninja severed relations long ago. I also feel like if I try to switch sections on telebears I'll get dropped from the class, never get back in, never take chem 4A, and ultimately be unable to major in chemical biology (these sorts of catastrophes seem all too common with telebears). Anyways, I asked my advisor and she said to just show up at the section I want to transfer into, and I might have a chance of getting in. What are my chances of getting in? Does it help that I'm a chemical biology major?

You can try to switch sections without dropping the class by using the “Switch Sections” button on telebears. There is no risk involved, and you will know right away if there is space open.

College of Chem is also quite accommodating regarding section movement. Try singh’s telebears method; otherwise, attend the section you want and see if you can get in. It definitely helps that you are a Chem Bio major, because you have first priority in Chem 4 waitlists.
