When applying as a transfer you need to declare a major. What if after being accepted I decide I want to change my major? Just wanted to know if it was allowed since I was accepted for a certain major and decided to switch. Any help would be great

If it helps. What if the major I want to change to is in the same school that I was accepted to. For example, if I were accepted to the university’s business school for business and decided I wanted to major in management instead.

Most universities require you to complete a certain number of semesters before changing your major. That’s the case for all of the universities I applied to, anyway. Is there a specific school that you’re inquiring about? Where did you apply? If your question isn’t answered on their website, a quick call to their admissions office will probably do the trick. Then again, the wait time to speak to a representative can be quite lengthy given the time of year.

Did you apply as a transfer? and I am waiting to hear back from the University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, Ohio State, and Purdue. I was already accepted into Temple for a major within their business school. I wanted to know if I could change my major since it’s still in the same school I was accepted to.

I did apply as a transfer. Considering the fact that your desired major is within the same school you were accepted to, I can’t imagine that changing your major would be a major issue. However, it really depends on the school, and I would suggest contacting the admissions office at your earliest convenience.

That’s true. I believe it’s too late to request that I apply into a different major seeing as all of the schools I am currently waiting to hear from are already taking a look at my application. I will however contact them if/when I am accepted regarding this. Thanks for all your help!
