I found out this morning that I was accepted to UT Austin. Unfortunately, I was not accepted to either my first-choice major (aerospace eng) or my second-choice major (comp sci). I have a few questions on what would happen if I choose to click the "change my majors" tab on the application status page.

1) After being accepted, am I even able to request a change of major before accepting the offer of admission?

2)If I was to change my major choices back to aerospace eng and comp sci, is there a chance id get accepted to one of them the second time around?

3) If the answer to question 2 is no, then I'd consider changing them to Electrical Engineering or Geology. If I was to do so, how long would it take to hear back on whether I was accepted to those majors (Or whichever i choose to request)?

4) If none of these options work out, what is the viability of changing my major once enrolled in the University? Just how competitive is it to change majors into engineering at UT Austin?

I think you have to wait to transfer after your first year. I’m pretty sure I read a few days ago that over the past few years a 3.5 GPA would get you into the engineering program but it just depends on the year

I got in to undergraduate studies instead of engineering, but I think its the same as a rejection. no way to stay current with engineering while in undergraduate studies, so I’m headed elsewhere for engineering.

How do we request an appeal? When I click the appeals tab only requesting the change if date and requesting cap links appear. Do we just click the change major button to appeal?

It is my understanding that you cannot appeal your major/college placement. The appeals tab is for those applicants who were rejected by the University. If you were offered admission and did not get placed into your desired major, you must follow the requirements for internal transfer into the major you want. For those who want to transfer say into Liberal Arts from UGS, that is pretty easy. However, if you want to transfer into a competitive major, specifically engineering, business, architecture, or communications, then you must follow the internal transfer requirements for that major.
