Changing Major After Admission

I'm an auto-admit and had planned on majoring in some kind of engineering, but hadn't taken any physics yet. Now, I'm in AP Physics B and am really struggling already and I'm afraid I won't make it through my physics classes in the engineering school. I would probably switch to Economics. How hard would it be to change majors, and would I have to do so after a semester or something?

I remember during my orientation, several people changed majors then and there. One of them changed from International Relations to Economics. I don’t think it’s hard to change into Economics.

Take a look at this:

[UT College of Liberal Arts](http://www.utexas.edu/cola/depts/economics/undergraduate/prospective/Admission%20and%20Declaring%20the%20Major.php)

Cheers.

Edit: Also, you never know how Physics is at UT, but I’m sure it’s doable if you’re passionate towards attaining a degree in engineering. Don’t let one course stop you from pursuing a selected major. Also, you’ll need calculus for getting a degree in Economics, if you choose that major.

L+P=John, thank you so much! That makes me feel much better should I have to switch.
I know that Econ majors have to take Calculus, but I’m fine with that, as I like math; I’m just having a really hard time with Physics so far for some reason. Hopefully it’ll get better…
