changing major and school?

Is it harder to transfer to a school if I'll be starting a new major once I transfer? I no longer have the interest for my current major (Athletic Training) that I once had but have gone back to the major I originally searched for when looking for a school (Sports Management). My current school does not offer Sports Management as a major, minor, or even concentration. I plan to take some general business classes next semester and transfer to a school to start Fall '07. Currently I'm looking at Oregon, Memphis, and Louisville--how selective are these schools regarding transfers?

Here are my stats if it helps (I know this isn't a chances place but I'm more concerned with being able to transfer at all):

High School:
Rank: ~60/230
GPA: 3.5
EC: 4 Years FFA--2 years officer, 4 year State Convention Contests, 2 year National Convention attendant, 2 year Washington Leaderhsip Conference, Chair on Multiple Committees; 4 years basketball; 5 years soccer; 3 years cross country; SADD Officer; JEL (anti-tobacco) Officer; Best Buddies; Service Corps; Athletic Office volunteer (filing papers, creating gameday packets, basic office work)
Concurrent Enrollment in CC: Inorganic Chem (8 credits), Calculus (5 credits), Composition (3 credits)

College:
GPA: 3.5?? (just a guess, still in first semester freshman year)
EC: Intramurals; Health and Human Performance Club; Eta Sigma Gamma, Collegiate FFA; College of Human Sciences Council; Work in NCAA Compliance Office of Athletic Dept

No, on the contrary, I think a change of mind re major and being at a school which doesn't offer that major is a good reason to transfer. So as far as admissions is concerned, I don't think it hurts and may help if the schools are evaluating your "why transfer" reason.

As to how it affects you once you are there, check the requirements/typical schedule for a freshman at the schools you would like to go to. Try to take similar coursework to that. Since you are still a freshman, it may not have much effect even if you have taken a different sort of schedule.

As to selectivity of those schools, they seem to each take between 60+% and 80+% of transfer applicants, so you should be good there. (You can find transfer acceptance rates at the College Board site as well as USN&WR premium online edition).

I'm not expert on Sports Management-type majors (to say the least, LOL), but that EC working in the NCAA Compliance Office looks good to me and something you might want to highlight.

Good luck.

thanks for the College Board site...I was looking for something like that
