I've read that you can change your major at orientation. I'm not sure if I'm going to try to do this, but I've been considering it. I was wondering how this would work. Do you have to have any of the preparation for the major courses done to be able to switch that early, or will they let you switch even if you don't have the prep courses done? Thanks for your help!

You just have to ask your orientation counselor and they’ll do it for you. Otherwise they will tell you how to do that.

It also depends on what major you’re trying to switch into. For example, switching a major from College of Letters & Sciences to a major into the Engineering school is very unlikely. And I think it’s kinda easy, since you aren’t really in your major yet… Just gotta make sure you’re taking the right classes as you go on though.

As noxfinitie stated, your orientation counselor will let you know whether you can change it at orientation, and if you can’t do it right then, they’ll put you in classes that you’ll need in order to change and give you info on how to do so. If you’re switching into another school completely (Engineering, Arts and Architecture, Nursing, and Theater, Film, and Television), there is an application process you’ll have to go through.
