Changing Major Bio to Business REGISTRATION HOLD

Fall 2010, Sophomore year i decided to hell with Biology.
Spring 2011, i began taking the business prereqs, which the main lady at the business school undergrad office said i needed to take to switch my major to business.

I wouldn't have been able to take all those courses in one semester (6 courses) and maintain any sense of well being. Therefore, i had to fight with the academic MAP lady on the phone saying i was changing my major and to remove the hold on my registration.

Now i am not too far from completing all the prereqs, i am here for Summer A taking Macro Econ, and Accounting. I just need to do Business Calc (which i sadly got a D in, but the other courses i got A's).

So, my question is, to get the MAP people off my back can i possibly switch my major (since the email says i will NEED to see an advisor and get my major change to get the registration restriction removed) to some easy major with similar prereqs (Hospitality) then when i am all set for business to switch into Business?

Help a fellow Nole' out. These academic map ladies are mean :(

Isn’t business a limited access program that is somewhat hard to get into?

If you have completed micro economics, I say switch into an Economics major, since the prereq is only 2 classes, micro and macro economics. Then switch to business.

Well yeah the undergrad lady said get my 2.9 and all the prereqs done and i should be good to get into the business school.
However, Economics thank you so much the GPA is lower!! : )

Thanks

The MAP hold is not a big deal if it is the first time. You just go in with a plan, you get the hold off when you explain that you will be back on MAP etc. Summer does not count against the MAP hold. If the first hold is on at the end of spring, you have fall to get back on MAP. Only if you are off Map when Spring grades post and Fall grades post do you have to change your major. Changing your major is on your transcript etc every time.

So if this is hold number one, go in, meet with an adviser, show your plan to be back on MAP by end of fall, voile, your hold is off.

If you are still listed as BIO and this is your second semester of not meeting BIO MAP, see if there is Business not formally accepted. It is for those who are on track for a business major but they do not yet meet the requirements. It is Business NFA–not formally admitted or something. Do you have too many credits to be undeclared?

The major is Business NFA 219999. This is what you want. It starts your mapping all over again.

Go make an appt for advising with College of Business Undergrad Programs Office in RBB room 328. THEY CAN HELP YOU change to Business NFA.

Thanks Sunny ill go soon.
