Changing Major Within CoE

Hi, I am a Fall admit to UCB CoE, but I applied as an ME major, I wish to switch my major to EECS as soon as possible. At the time I applied, I din really know anything abt ME and thought I like ME, but I was wrong, I liked physics--mechanics, not ME. And EECS is my new found area of interest, after an internship with a software company, I have decided to take on EECS. How hard is it to change major within CoE after the first semester? Will I be forced to take up some ME lower division courses in my first semester? EECS freshman should take CS61 series, but I am a ME freshman, will I be allowed to take the CS series? Thanks in advance

Note that if your primary interest is CS, an alternative route is to switch into the L&S CS major after fulfilling its prerequisites.
