<p>hello everyone. i’m an international student doing the IB diploma program and was wondering whether it is possible to change majors from electrical engineering to chemical engineering. I put in electrical on the Common App form but I want to major in chemical engineering and have applied for the latter everywhere else. Can this change be made?</p>
<p>Don’t worry about it. You can wait until you get your decision to switch majors, people do it all the time. As long as its the same school, which I assume it is because both are engineering. You could also contact them now, but I think that would just cause them extra work now when they’re so busy anyway. But changing majors is really easy in the US, not like it is at e.g. European universities where you basically have to quit and then start all over again.</p>
<p>Boston University does not offer Chemical Engineering.</p>
<p>really??? don’t tell me i wasted like 70 bucks on my application :S but is it possible to change my major to something else though? the problem is, on my essay, it says i want to do chemical engineering.</p>
<p>~_~ How did you make a mistake like that… BU only offers Biomedical ,Mechanical , Electrical and Computer Engineering. I believe you can change your major by calling the BU college of engineering or at orientation. You should call just in case.</p>
<p>i know… it was extremely clumsy of me 
but i want to do chemical engineering and had assumed that i could switch once i was accepted to BU, but i guess i will have to sort it out right now, otherwise i will get an outright rejection.</p>

<p>But I was wondering if anyone knew how easy it is to switch between schools (specifically COM to CAS)? Not necessarily before acceptance/enrollment/etc. or even first semester, just in general?</p>
<p>It isn’t hard to intratransfer between schools either, 23simone23. You can’t switch right away but can begin taking classe for the other school. After that, it’s a matter of paperwork and meeting GPA requirements.</p>
<p>is it really bad if i put electrical engineering on common app and my essay talks about chemical engineering though? like will i be penalised for it considering i can change courses later?</p>
