Is it possible to change major at the new school?

Depends on the school and depends on the majors. For example, if you got in to NYU CAS to study history and then decided you want to study finance at Stern, that wouldn't be possible because you cannot transfer internally to Stern if you transferred to another school within NYU (same with Penn and Wharton).

However, almost every college will let you so I wouldn't worry about it. But you should really give more details when asking such questions.

yes of course if the major you want is offered at your school.. like jacknjill said.

Some schools have "impacted" majors (I'm thinking especially of the UC's). So it might not be possible to change into one of those. In general, though, it shouldn't be a problem. I would ask at each school, especially if you're thinking of moving between schools - eg, Arts/Sciences to Engineering or the eg's jacknjill gave.

jmmom, yeah that's pretty much the situation.

But even under an impacted major, I suppose under the specific department's discretion, and your pre-major preparation level, you could be accepted.
