I'm an incoming freshman and i originally got accepted as B Arch Major
but is it possible for me to change my major at this point?
Now, I kinda want to go to a dental school after graduating..
Also, if I want to become an orthodantist which school should I pick San Diego or USC? let's not be biased!

it's UCSD by the way

Yes, it is possible to change your major at your point. Depending on what you want to change your major to, I think you have to call the department of that major and ask to be put into that major. Upon your request, they will review your application and decide whether or not to allow you in. From what I've heard, changing majors is pretty easy.

^ ditto. i believe that the rule is that if you're switching majors within CLAS or from some school (Thornton, Annenberg) to CLAS, it's fairly easy. it's if you want to go from CLAS to a specific school that things get a little complicated..

So what exactly do you have to do to transfer from CLAS to a specific school?

I would look up the specific school's contact information and contact them. I think calling them by phone might be the best way, but I'm not sure.

I think you can find the contact info for a specific school's admissions office by going to the USC web site, then scrolling over "academics" (the third option from the left in the black background towards the top of the website page), then clicking on "schools," then clicking on whichever school you're interested in, then finding the contact information for that school's admissions office, and then contacting them. I didn't post a direct link to the "schools" section because I'm not sure if there's a rule here that declares no posting of links. It seems that most of the specific schools' contact information can be found wherever there is a "Contact Us" link or some sort of variation of that.

I was admitted to USC as a B.Arch major as well, and I went through this experience changing my major to Public Policy, Management, and Planning at the start of my second semester. You can change your major (many people drop arch after the first class) but I recommend spending at least a semester in the major if you thought you would be interested in it.

In addition, there are a lot of parallels between dentistry and architecture (with the training you will get in precision in the architecture studio), but there are other options like dental hygiene available to undergrads.

I definitely recommend USC for dentistry. The school has a great reputation in that field. I have found that EVERY (and I mean every) dentist/orthodontist (except for one UC San Franciscan) I have visited or met in Southern California has been a USC alum.

Certain majors have specific criteria that need to be met before declaring that major (i.e. Business has prerequisites in econ, writing, and calculus). Which major do you plan on declaring if you switch out of architecture?

I'm going to do this as well. My major change is a whole lot more complicated though, I want to do Film (always wanted, but parents told me to go with a safer option, so I chose business). I was admitted to Marshall today which is pretty selective in itself, so I don't know if it'll happen. It seems pretty darn hard to say the least, but I won't lose hope heh.

Good luck to you changing your major!

I was accepted into CLAS and I would also like to switch to Cinematic Arts. My advisor at USC didn't really tell me how hard this would be to do. Is this really a possibility?
