Changing Majors after admission

Hey all! I have a question regarding changing majors. I applied EA to a few schools and I applied to Economics, which is in their College of Arts and Science, but I was wondering, let's say I get accepted into the school, can I contact them to change it to Business instead, which will be in the School of Management? Is that possible at all or I should just stick with Economics?

Thanks all!

I've been looking into this too and I've found it varies on a case by case basis. For some colleges no more than a letter of intent is required, but for others you may need to be completely reevaluated for acceptance into a program. The best thing to do is to call the colleges you were accepted into and ask them their policy about changing majors and schools.

Thanks for the reply jmac! Since I think we are in the same dilemma, do you think it will be wise to wait for the admission reply first, and then call them to ask for a change? So they won't think I'm annoying or something and not accept me if I call and bother them now..lol

Haha, I don't think they'll mind. You don't have to give your name. Just ask to speak with an admissions counselor or someone in the admissions department, there's no harm in finding out. It'd be better to sort this out now rather than later too I guess.

Or if you meant you wanted to change your major on your EA apps, I'm not sure about the process related to that. I still think you should call to find out how to change majors if you do get accepted.

some schools (like case western) have a one-door policy -- once you get in, you can do anything you want.
