Changing majors at UC Davis (Engineering)

Hey guys -

I’ve just been admitted into UC Davis majoring in Applied Mathematics. However, I want to change my major to Civil Engineering.

I’m currently torn between a few schools (McGill University, UC Irvine), and was wondering how easy it is to change majors at UC Davis (and Irvine if anyone happens to know).

Advice from current students would be great. Especially those that are in the engineering department, or have transferred into the engineering department themselves. Any other help would be appreciated.

         Thanks!

I can say from experience that within your first two years it is very easy to do, as long as you meet with your advisor. Best of luck :)

thanks for the reply.

do you know if it's possible to get it changed before your freshman year starts?

Since you have already declared a major outside of engineering, I don't know if you can switch it prior to fall quarter starts. If you can't then you will have to follow the instructions on the following page
