I was planning on applying to UCLA with a non- impacted major because it may up my chances, then later changing it to communication studies. The app is supposed to be due soon and I have no clue if I should carry the same thing out since I heard it is very hard to change from a non impacted to an impacted. If I were to be accepted what would the process be to change it? and how hard would it be?
You guys will probably say to apply with communications, but I don't have the best grades were I don't have to worry about my addmission.
I am cuerrently a senior in HS.

Go and take a look at the UCLA admission website. They clearly state that they do not take you major into account if you apply to a major that is in letters and science. Your desired major is in letters and science. So go ahead and apply with what you want.

For popular majors at UCLA such as communications or economics you are not actually placed in the major if you get accepted to UCLA. You are given what is called pre-major status. Which really is pretty meaningless. In order to be accepted into the major you have to complete a prescribed series of classes with a certain GPA. Anybody, with any listed major, can take those classes and apply. And those in the pre-major have absolutely no guarantee of being accepted. See http://www.commstudies.ucla.edu/openadmin

But that is all in the future. First you need to get admitted to UCLA.
