I am a CCC transfer student. I was admitted to UCLA as philosophy major. I am also very interested in the economics major, though. Can I switch to the economics major or add it as a second major once I transfer?

Unfortunately, Economics is the only major inside the College of L&S you cannot transfer into as a transfer student.

Actually it depends on which Econ major you are interested in. BizEcon is out of the question, but you can probably switch or double major one of the other Econ sub-fields. See the Econ FAQ for more information: [UCLA Department of Economics](http://www.econ.ucla.edu/undergraduate/faq.html)

I’m interested in the Economics B.A. In the link sentimentGX4 provided, #3 at the bottom of the page excludes me from transferring into any of the majors within the economics department. Is this something I can get around, as you hint, or is it “set in stone”?

Have you taken the math required for economics? You need 3 semesters of calculus, something I don’t think philosophy majors take.

I think only two calculus courses are required. Yes, I have completed the math required for economics.

You need to talk to the Econ department directly. The admissions office is in charge of admitting you, but has little say in where you can go once you are in.
