changing majors at ucla

So im currently a mechanincal engineering major but i applied to ucla as a mathematics major because at that time i was going to switch out of engineering but i stuck with it and i really like it now. how hard will it be for ucla to switch my major? is it even possible. i have all the prereqs for Mechanical engineering and i have a 3.6 gpa.

not possible

is it really impossible. so im stuck with math unless i decide not to transfer to ucla

I’ve also heard it’s not possible. Tough break bro. =[

ill give it a try. worst comes to worst ill just go back to the school im at now.

It might be possible since you have all the prereqs done. I’d definitely give it a try.

I don’t know about transfers but UCLA is usually very lenient for freshman. I know somebody with over 260 units and was approved for yet another unit increase. I know various people who switched from L&S to engineering, and some the other way.

[Admission to UCLA as a Transfer Student: University of California Los Angeles Transfer Admissions](<a href=“Suite 101 - How-tos, Inspiration and Other Ideas to Try”>Suite 101 - How-tos, Inspiration and Other Ideas to Try)

It specially states that it is VERY difficult if not impossible to change majors into engineering once your there.

A l&S major though not too much

from the official ucla engineering website
Students admitted as junior level transfers may request a change of major upon completion of their first quarter in residence at UCLA. Such requests are generally only competitive if the student would have been admitted had he or she originally applied directly to the HSSEAS major.

i have all the pre reqs and i have a good gpa so hopefully i’ll have a good chance.
