Changing majors from engineering to math

From what I’ve seen, one should apply to UW’s engineering program during their freshman undergrad application to get accepted into the program. I’m someone who’s highly interested in math and engineering, but can’t decide between the two.

If I apply to UW as an engineering major but later want to leave the engineering program and change to a math major, is this possible? Also, would it be manageable to do a double major in both math and some field in engineering?

Note: I’m a high school senior right now, and I’m applying to UW this November.

You can read about how hard it is to get into each major here: https://www.washington.edu/uaa/advising/degree-overview/majors/list-of-undergraduate-majors/

Yes, you should definitely apply direct to college for engineering, even if you might switch to Math later.
