Once you are accepted to a school as a transfer, are you locked in as the major that you entered on the school's form, or is the option to change majors still available? Does this policy vary between schools, or is there a uniformed standard on the issue?

I depends on the school. You should email the transfer advisor and ask her (or him) about it.

depends on the school…usually you have to reapply to that college and i wouldnt waste money for a semester doing classes you wont need…

I thought about emailing the transfer advisor about it, but I don’t want to seem wish-washy about my major… I’m just considering changing my major, but it’s definitely not a definite thing. Anyway, both majors are in the College of Arts and Sciences for each school to which I applied, so I would not think that changing colleges will be an issue.

At most private colleges, no problem. At many state schools it’s a problem. If yours is a college that has majors denoted as impacted, check the web site to see if the major you want is in that category.

Well, the schools to which I applied are all private, so that’s good news. Anyway, my #1 school has a unique major that I’m interested in. On the school’s application, I put my current major (Biological Sciences) in the #1 spot and the other major in the #2 spot. I guess they will assume that I could pick either one.
