So I got into UCSB to major in psychology, and I was curious as to how hard it would be to switch to something like anthropology. Is it possible for CC transfers to double major?

I'm pretty overwhelmed at the moment since I didn't get into either Berkeley or UCLA, so I'm starting to have second thoughts about being a psych major at Santa Barbara. I just want to have the best chance to get a good job or go to graduate school later on (for something like Psychology or anthropology).

I know I should be as worried as I'm just... apprehensive? Idk. It's crossed my mind to wait another year and reapply although my GPAs gonna go down a little this semester. This isn't ideal because I've got my mind se on transferring. If anyone could shed some light on changing majors or double majoring post-transfer that would be great. :)

Clicking on this link should get you started on understanding change of major rules: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=ucsb+change+major+transfer
For grad school, you need to get to know some profs so you get strong recs. Doing well in your classes and taking part in research is pretty much a given to be a strong grad school candidate.

Getting a job out of college takes a different approach. Almost any career field is open to the liberal-arts grad outside of the ones that require specific training and even for these you could go to grad school or take post-college classes if you really wanted to be an accountant or get a teaching degree, etc.

The OP needs to take the broad approach; say to yourself “I’m going to graduate with a college degree, and this is a base requirement for many employers. But in addition to that, what steps do I need to take to identify a potential career and make myself an attractive hire to prospective employers in that field?”

I would suggest the OP read the book “Major in Success”. It has many stories about how college students can discover their interests and prepare for jobs pursuing those interests while in college. I also suggest using the resources of the career center starting as soon as you arrive; they have workshops, interest surveys, counselors, job fairs, and can even put you together with alums who will talk to you about their career and how to get started.

A lot of ppl don’t know this, but you can actually switch to anthro (if it’s on the list on your MyApplication) before transffering. I switched from communications to psych. All you need to do is send out the email (instuructions on MyApplication).

CC transfers can definitely double major!

I heard the psych program was great at UCSB, but double check.

I would wait another year to reapply if you think you can increase your GPA and if you don’t mind staying around. Applying is a tedious process, but it’s worth it if UCB and UCLA are your targets.
