Changing majors within Engineering as a transfer student

As a transfer student, how hard is it to switch majors within the engineering department (say from Materials Engineering to Computer Science & Engineering)? Is it impossible? Has anyone done it or know of someone who has? I'm really worried...

please help…

Transferring from CC to UCLA. I am wondering how hard it is to switch majors within the engineering department (for example, say I got into UCLA as Electrical or Materials Engineering but want switch to Computer Science & Engineering)? Is it impossible?

I’ve had many friends who were once EE, and switched into CS, the beginning courses are basically the same, starting maybe winter quarter of sopohmore year, you’re gonna start taking CS classes, so depending on how far you’ve gone, its not impossible. Heck, i’ve even had a friend switch from bioengineering, to electrical engineering, then to computer science by the end of his sophomore year haha. Switching within engineering school isn’t too hard from what i see, if you have good grades, fufilled basic requirements, and write a good paper on why you want to transfer, its very possible, especially if you already had the basic coursework done.

Guys, thank you so much for your answers, but I’ll entering as a junior when I transfer from a community college. Now is that a whole different story? Would it then be impossible to switch majors within the engineering department? Also do the students in the engineering department have a greater chance at switching to another engineering major compared to non-engineering students or are they the same?
