Changing Majors...

How hard does ncsu make it to change majors? I applied to natural resources but want to change to business. Do they accept most major changes or will they deny me? I am senior in high school and want to change before school starts

My S changed his major before starting at State. He changed from College of Engineering to College of Natural Resources. It was an easy switch. He called admissions and then had to send them a letter (or email, can’t remember) making an official request to change.

Changing from College of Natural Resources to College of Management could be trickier.
College of Management is second only to College of Engineering in applications. Lots of kids want to get in. The first thing you need to do is to call the Admissions office and ask how to proceed. I’m guessing they will just reassess your application.

If all goes well, you’ll get a letter from COM telling you you’re in. The other avenue you may want to consider is trying to change to First Year College. After your freshman year, you could then apply to College of Management. Ask the person in Admissions what your best option would be. Ask if you are denied admission to COM whether you can get into FYC or if trying to get into FYC is your best bet right now.

S1’s roommate did FYC and was then accepted into the COM as a soph. He graduated on time with an accounting major.

thanks a ton for the help and yea FYC sounds like it might be smarter to transfer to then go to Management. I just dont want to get stuck in natural resources then not be able to transfer after my freshman year because i possibly could of just wasted my time gettting credits that would not transfer over to business management major

How did you make out with your transfer Paintball? My D attended Admitted Students Day this past Monday ( she was accepted into the coll. Of Mgmt. In Jan). The result of her day at ncsu is that she is hoping they will let her move over to the FYC. we spoke to admissions and also a rep from FYC and need to write the email to request the change this week. she is now dead set on this move.
