Changing majors?

I might go to this school for computer engineering, but if I end up deciding that I want to switch to computer science instead, would I be able to switch without any problems? Also, since computer science at Pomona isn’t part of their engineering program, is it still seen as a good program by hiring companies?

Last night I read the homepage for Cal Poly Pomona’s School fo Engineering. It stated that changing of majors is not allowed. Check it out for yourself.

Since the Computer Science department in in the college of science, and not impacted, you should have no problem switching majors. It’s people who think they can get accepted to an easy major such as art and want to switch to an impacted major like architecture that would have a problem. Computer Science is well regarded at CPP and is on the cusp of being impacted, so act quickly.

LakeWashington- I didn’t see where it said changing majors is not allowed, could you link me to where you found this? If it’s true I might not want to go here if I end up not liking cmpE and being stuck with it.

Anybody can change majors in any college. It’s just a lot more difficult to change into an impacted major. Besides, you’re inquiring about changing into the College of Science. The College of Engineering can’t stop you from that.

Okay that makes sense, so I’m guessing there is a big difference between the two programs, would you say the computer science degree is easier than the computer engineering degree? I looked at the class curriculum for both, and it looks like most of the classes for computer engineering are hardware/electrical classes which I heard are harder than software classes.
I heard most computer engineers get jobs in software rather than hardware anyway, so would it make more sense just to major in computer science?
